Yes. As long as the continuing education activity meets the criteria for both certifications, it can be submitted as part of both recertification materials. CPSN and CANS recertification packets should always be sent separately with copies of the activity included in both.

If you were officially registered for a program that offered CMEs and not nursing contact hours, and if the program was specific to Plastic Surgery and relevant to your practice, you can submit this course toward your recertification. Please be aware that up to 15 CMEs may be used toward recertification.

Courses that award CEUs will be accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Courses that award CMEs will be accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). You will also notice that CMEs will be awarded as AMA PRA Category 1 credits.
